A Journey Towards Industry 4.0: From cloud approaches to digital solution practices
In this talk, we explore our journey towards Industry 4.0, covering elasticity management, intelligent cloud plan selection, IoT-based development, and digital solutions. We examine strategies for optimizing resource allocation in distributed systems and discuss smart cloud plan selection, which helps businesses choose the most suitable plan based on factors like cost, performance, and security. The importance of IoT-based development in Smart Cities is highlighted, demonstrating how it enhances public transport management, data ingestion, and smart city APIs. Additionally, we briefly discuss digital solutions and showcasing their growing role in customer support, sales, and user experience improvement. Attendees will gain insights into the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital transformation of industries, inspiring researchers and practitioners to embrace the potential of these technologies and contribute to shaping the future of industrial processes.
Ala Arman is currently a research fellow at the Sapienza Università di Roma and previously held a similar role at the Università degli Studi di Firenze for four years. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the Università degli Studi di Milano (2018) and also holds an MSc in Software Engineering of Distributed Systems from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden (2012). His area of expertise lies in distributed systems, cloud computing, IoT, and Smart Cities.
