Biografia

PRESENT POSITION

Cinzia Daraio is Full Professor of Management Engineering at the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering Antonio Ruberti, University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy) where she teaches Efficiency and Productivity Analysis (Master Degree in Management Engineering), Quantitative Models for Economic Analysis and Management (Master Degree in Data Science), Economics and Business Organization (Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering and others) and Economics (Master Degree in Electrical Engineering).

PREVIOUS POSITIONS

From December 2011 to August 2020 she has been Associate Professor of Management Engineering at the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering Antonio Ruberti, University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy).

From November 2008 to November 2011 she has been Assistant Professor at the Department of Management, Second School of Engineering, University of Bologna (Italy). From November 2002 to October 2006 she has been research associate at the Institute for Informatics and Telematics of the Italian National Research Council (IIT CNR), Pisa, and, from November 2006 to October 2008, post-doctoral research fellow and teaching assistant at the Department of Electrical Systems and Automation, School of Engineering, University of Pisa (Italy).

EDUCATION

She graduated cum laude in Economics and Business in 1999 at the University of Pisa and she obtained a Diploma degree in Economics cum laude in 1999 at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa. She obtained a Master of Arts in Statistics in 2002 at the Université catholique the Louvain (Belgium); and she got her Ph.D. in Economics and Management in 2003 at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa (Italy). She is external member of the Laboratory of Economics and Management (LEM) of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and has a stable research collaboration with the ISBA Institute, Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium.

RESEARCH INTERESTS AND PROJECTS

Her research focuses on methodological and empirical studies in productivity and efficiency analysis and performance measurement; development of indicators for the quantitative analysis and evaluation of science, technology higher education and research policy, data quality and data integration.

She has been member of Expert Groups of the European Commission, namely “Building Composite Indicator(s) on the European Research Area (ERA) implementation”, Directorate General for Research and Innovation (November 2013-October 2014) and of the “Expert Group to support the development of tailor-made impact assessment methodologies for ERA”, Directorate General for Research and Innovation (December 2013-October 2014).

She has been appointed as a member of the Commission of Experts for the Evaluation of the Third Mission Activities (CETM) by the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutions (ANVUR) from October 2015 to May 2017.

She has a consolidated experience in international and national research projects, including PRIME (Policies for the Research in the Move towards the European Research Area) Network of Excellence, Aquameth (Advanced Quantitative Methods for the Evaluation of the Performance of Public Sector Research) that she co-coordinated; OEU (Observatory on the European University) and ENID (European Network of Indicator Designers); Changes in University Incomes tender (CHINC); Innovation Studies (iRiS) Project on “Reorganization of public research’s technological transfer system: governance, tools and strategies” and EUMIDA (European Universities Micro Data) Feasibility Study. In particular, in EUMIDA she was national contact point for Italy and coordinated the data collection for Italy through the National Statistical Authority.
